The state government has announced that the Kishore Kumar Samman (award) for this year would be given to lyricist Sameer. The government has established the award in remembrance of MP-born playback singer, actor and producer Kumar.
The yearly award is given for extraordinary contribution in the field of direction, acting and for writing screenplay and lyrics. The award would be given to Sameer in a programme to be organised on Monday in Khandwa.
The chief guest on the occasion, food and civil supplies minister Vijay Shah would confer the award to Sameer. Tourism minister Surendra Patwa will preside over the function, while BJP state president Nandkumar Singh Chouhan, mayor Bhavna Shah and several MLAs would also remain present during the ceremony. Sameer is being conferred upon with this award for songs written by him, the statement from the organisers stated.
The jury consisting of screenplay writer Salim Khan, actor-director Satish Kaushik, singer Anuradha Paudwal, lyricist Ibrahim Ashk and film critic Jaiprakash Chouksey had unanimously decided on the name of Sameer. The award constitutes of Rs 2 lakh besides a citation. Usha Mangeshkar would present a musical programme after the award ceremony.
