Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan would not have imagined how his scheme of presenting annual report card of various departments would turn into an 'eyewash'.
Minister of state for general administration department Lal Singh Arya presented achievements of the department on Wednesday, but could not answer a single question from media.
Arya said his department has introduced self-attested income and domicile certificates, apart from other self-attested documents to help the common man. But, when the media asked that self-attested documents are not accepted by the government authorities, Arya avoided the question.
When asked again, citing an example of recently held test for recruitment in a government department, he said CM has ordered to see if the exam could be held again for the candidates who were deprived due to the officials' mistake.
Arya avoided mention of Lokayukta establishment in his press release. When asked why his department is not giving prosecution sanction for government employees trapped by the lokayukta, he chose to remain silent. He also could not reply to a question on how many sanctions has his department given for prosecution to lokayukta.
In another achievement, Arya said that his department has held meetings of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) twice a year. But, when media asked that DPC for State Administrative Service (SAS) officials was not held for last two years, he skirted the questions again.
Arya, who also heads Narmada Valley Development department, could not answer to media's query on the agreement between Gujarat and MP on water distribution.
