Sensation prevailed in Goragoan village on Sunday noon when a mutilated and naked body of a woman was found near regional centre of Sports Authority of India (SAI), on the outskirts of Bhopal. Her head had been severed from the body and clothes were missing, the police said. The identity of the woman is yet to be established.
According to police, Chain Singh, a villager, spotted the body behind SAI Centre's hostel and informed the cops. On receiving information, Ratibad police along with a dog squad and forensic team rushed to the spot but could not get any clue about the woman.
The police said the woman seems to be around 35-40 years old. The body is about 48 hours old. It is surmised that the woman was murdered somewhere else and later her body was dumped near SAI centre.
Police officials said injury marks were also found on her body. This suggested that the woman was brutally murdered and her head was severed in a bid to conceal her identity.
Police officials said their teams have fanned out in the entire area and some suspects are being interrogated to establish the woman's identity.
"Once we establish the identity of the woman, we shall crack the murder. We have also conveyed information about the incident to all the police stations of Bhopal and nearby districts and sought information about complaints about missing persons," said a police officer.
