Police are yet to find the rapist of a 10-year-old visually impaired orphan, who was left pregnant, a week after a forensic report confirmed that the DNA of the teacher accused in the case did not match that of the foetus.

The child's caretakers at SOS Balgram orphanage in Bhopal had accused her schoolteacher Shivkhand Kishore Mishra of raping her on the premises of Fatehgarh School for the Visually Challenged and Hearing Impaired.

An FIR was lodged against Mishra on November 14 last year.

The 56-year-old teacher was arrested and imprisoned for three months before getting bail this month.

The child underwent a medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) on November 21 last year.

However, the DNA report by the State Forensic Science Laboratory at Sagar city revealed that Mishra was not the culprit.

The content of the report was confirmed by T Sapre, town in-charge of Talaiya police station in Bhopal, but he did not comment on the inquiry into the case.

Usha Chaturvedi, chairperson of the MP State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, also reserved comment.

Chaturvedi said the commission was waiting for the inquiry reports it had sought from the Child Welfare Committee and the state human rights commission.
