Suspended police inspector Upmanyu Saxena was produced in the court on Thursday, and remanded to police custody till November 8. Saxena, 58, had been at large for nearly six months.
On Wednesday evening, he had appeared at the Misrod police station, and surrendered. Today, the police brought him to the court and sought his remand. The court accepted the demand and remanded him to the police custody till November 8. In the period of police remand, he will be quizzed about the Indu Sharma's suicide.
Sharma, 32, an assistant professor, allegedly had a live-in relationship with Saxena. Also, the police will ask him about his relationship with her. Saxena had two mobile connections and he would be quizzed about the places he stayed during the last six months.
Indu Sharma was found hanging in her house. The deceased's kin had alleged that Saxena had forcibly established relations with her. Saxena had an argument with Saxena, the day before she had allegedly committed suicide. For six months, Saxena stayed in different places but police had failed to arrest him.
