A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 15-year-old cousin, police said Friday.
The girl was allegedly raped by her cousin at her aunt’s house in Bijili colony of Bhopal, where the girl’s parents had left her during an outstation trip. The matter came to light on Friday when the girl was taken to a city hospital after the girl complained of physical discomfort.
City superintendent of police (CSP) Govindpura Shiv Dayal Singh said that a case had been registered and the accused, a 15-year-old boy, has been arrested. Based on the girl’s statement, police have registered a case against the accused and arrested him, Singh said.
According to police sources, the incident had occurred on November 6, but came to light only after the child was taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after she complained of consistent of physical discomfort.
The girl’s parents had gone out of the city on November 6 and they had left the girl at her paternal aunt’s residence, police sources said.
Initially, her parents did not take it seriously and did not bother to consult a doctor, but as her complaints persisted, they finally took her to AIIMS on Friday where doctors discovered her injuries.
The girl narrated the whole sordid story to a doctor, who examined her.
The doctor informed the Govindpura police.
