The Bhopal district court on Saturday rejected the bail plea of Upmanyu Saxena, the suspended police inspector accused of abetment of suicide of a woman professor.
The court of additional sessions judge VK Pandey took the decision after hearing the arguments of the government counsel and the lawyers of the victim and the accused. The government counsel and victim’s lawyer had argued that if given bail, Saxena would abscond and might influence evidence. He was also a threat perception for the victim’s family, the lawyers said.
The court had heard the arguments on Friday and reserved its order for Saturday.
Saxena, after being on run for six months, had surrendered before police on November 5. He was booked for abetment of suicide after Indu Sharma, a teacher, who was found hanging in her flat in Misrod.
