A 38-year-old woman and her 19-year-old daughter were brutally murdered at Naveen Nagar on Saturday afternoon. The police said criminals entered the house of Raju Lalwani, a door-to-door utensil seller and attacked his wife Sunita and daughter Divya with sharp-edged weapons when they were alone at their residence.

When Raju returned home at 6pm, he was shocked to see his wife and daughter lying in a pool of blood and informed the police about the incident.

On getting information, the police rushed to spot with a forensic lab team to conduct a probe into the incident but the reason for the murders could not be ascertained.

Police sources said a love affair might be the reason for the murders and suspect the hands of a local youth Harish Rajak behind the gory incident.

However, ASI of Ashoka Garden police station Ajay Dubey, who is investigating the case, said the actual reasons for the murders would be ascertained only after an investigation.

Both the bodies have sent for autopsy.
