The relatives of a woman from Bhopal married into a Kashmiri business family are having sleepless nights as they wait to know her whereabouts in flood-swamped Srinagar.

Seema Khan, an advocate in the district court here, said she has not been able to contact her sister Zahida, who is married to Owais Kakroo, a Kashmiri businessmen and lives near Jama Masjid in Srinagar, which is battling the worst flood in 60 years.

"Last time we talked to her was on September 9," Khan told HT Friday. “We have no information about her and her two children Wakir and Zohra.”

Khan said, she had so far been unsuccessful in finding the whereabouts of her sister's family in Srinagar, which is partially submerged under water and hundreds have been rendered homeless.

"We are trying our best to contact the family through available emergency phones numbers and the social-media networking. But we have not been able to trace her or know what they are going through; whether her family is safe or not".

Having exhausted options, worried relatives are now pinning their hope on the army to trace the missing family. "We are hoping they would be rescued by the army and we will soon get some news about their present condition," she said.
