Govindpura police have recorded the statement of the 24-year-old woman teacher, who was allegedly gang-raped by her Facebook friend and his three companions, in Bhopal.
The police also detained the woman's friend Sandeep Goswami from his residence in Damoh. Police sources said Goswami is being brought to Bhopal for further interrogation. However, the other three accused — Prakash, Anshul and Rohit — are still at large.
City superintendent of police (CSP), Shiv Dayal Singh said a police team had been sent to Damoh town, from where the victim hails, on Saturday night and her statement has been recorded.
The victim told the police that she was gang-raped by Goswami and his three friends at his friends' rented flat near Chetak Bridge in Bhopal when she had come here in April to take an exam for a government job. She further said Gowami and his friends had made a video of the act and were constantly threating her of making the video public if she reported the matter to the police. However, fed up with extortion and harassment, she decided to lodge a complaint.
"Goswami took me to his friends' room near Chetak Bridge in Bhopal and gave me drugged water and gang-raped me," the victim told the police team in Damoh on Sunday.
She also claimed that Goswami blackmailed her at times and took money from her on the promise of not circulating the video.
