Former chief minister Babulal Gaur, who was ousted from the working committee of the BJP MP unit on Monday, didn’t even feature in the list of permanent invitees, which generally includes all former chief ministers.
On Tuesday, BJP state unit media in-charge Lokendra Parashar said it was a typing mistake. “I conveyed to all media persons in the morning that Babulal Gaur was very much a part of the permanent invitee list.”
When contacted by HT, Gaur said he didn’t want to comment on the issue.
The state unit on August 14 declared names of state office-bearers and on Monday announced the names of working committee members.
Deepak Vijawargiya has been made chief spokesperson of the party in the state. Rajneesh Agrawal, who was made assistant media in-charge in August, was elevated to state spokesperson post.
The new state working committee includes 75 members, 73 permanent invitees and 227 special invitees, Parashar said. Besides, there are 19 conveners of different wings of the party.
The BJP state unit has given a week’s time to Prakash Mirchandani, suspended from the party on the charges of anti-party activities, to submit his reply.
Mirchandani has posted a comment criticising the party leadership on his Facebook page.
BJP’s two-day meet begins at Pachmarhi
The two-day meeting of the new office bearers started at Pachmari on Tuesday. The meeting is being chaired by state unit president Nandkumar Singh Chauhan.
BJP leaders said after the announcement of new office bearers on August 14, this is for the first time they are meeting.
“There are 29 office bearers, including two office secretaries who are attending the meet. They will be introduced to each other and apprised about their respective roles and responsibilities,” said media in-charge Lokendra Parashar. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will attend the valedictory function on Wednesday.
According to sources, during the meeting, it was decided that office bearers will also be assigned the charge of districts. They will have to coordinate with the in-charge ministers of various districts and ensure that all the issues of the BJP workers are addressed.
They will also visit the districts once a month and hold meetings with local leaders to review the functioning of the party and implementation of various projects. The office bearers will ensure there is anti-incumbency in their assigned districts,
