The Congress alleged that the BJP’s manifesto is nothing but a copy of the its document released earlier this week.
The party has said that for the last 13 years, the BJP has been in power in most of the civic bodies in Madhya Pradesh, yet, it has failed to provide civic amenities in these places.
The Congress has complained to the Election Commission that the BJP is not following the model code of conduct. State Congress spokesperson JP Dhanopiya has said that chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is openly trying to influence the electorate through announcements that violate the model code of conduct.
Dhanopiya said Chouhan announced that illegal colonies would be legalised, but the State Election Commission took no action.
Party rejects Manak’s resignation
Congress leader Manak Agarwal who was upset over ticket distribution has been mollified. Agarwal, who is vice-president of MP Congress, had resigned from his post, to protest the denial of tickets to candidates of his choice in Itarsi and Hoshangabad, for the civic polls.
However, the party has rejected his resignation. It has asked Agarwal to continue working for the party. According to sources, leader of the Opposition in the state assembly Satyadev Katare on Friday reached the PCC office and asked Agarwal to come over.
Agarwal said that he would be coming to the PCC from Saturday.
