The city police on Saturday filed a charge sheet against Congress state unit spokesperson KK Mishra for allegedly forging documents to level false allegations against the kin chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The MP Nagar police filed the charge sheet in the court of judicial magistrate first class Pradeep Rathore.
According to police sources Mishra, at a press conference on June 11, 2015, alleged that M/S SS Minerals was allotted lease of Manganese mining in Balaghat. While claiming that SS Minerals belonged to a relative of the chief minister, Mishra produced documents before the media to support his claim.
Subsequently, a man, identified as Sanjay Nayak, lodged a complaint with the police that as per official records, no such mine was allotted to SS Minerals.
The police, during the investigation, found that Mishra had fabricated documents to harm the chief minister’s reputation as there was no mine allocated in Balaghat to any SS Minerals.
Mishra is already facing a defamation suit in the court for allegedly making false allegations about the chief minister and his relatives in another case.
Reacting to the charge sheet, Mishra told Hindustan Times that it was a planned move by the BJP government to suppress democratic voices.
“As the chief state spokesperson of the Congress, I’ll continue to expose the state government. Democratic voice will ultimately prevail before the autocracy of the state government.”
