Voting for Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Chhindwara municipal corporations and five other nagar parishads will be conducted on January 31, the state election commissioner R Parasuram announced on Monday. The votes will be counted on February 4.
The model code of conduct has come into force with the announcement of election dates. Vote to recall for president of Harda Nagar Parishad and Chanera Nagar Parishad in Khandwa district would be held on January 31.
Nominations for the electoral process would start from December 30. Last date to file nominations is January 6. Last date for withdrawal of nomination form is January 9. Voting would be conducted on January 31 and counting on February 4.
Nagar Parishad elections will be held for Vankhedi in Hoshangabad district, Badoni in Datia district, Shamshabad in Vidisha district, Chipaheda in Rajgarh district and Patera in Damoh district. Bhopal and Indore municipal corporations have 85 wards each, while Jabalpur has 79 and Chhindwara has 48 wards.
