Kailash Mishra, corporator from ward number 6 — that has changed to ward number 8 after delimitation — started from home at 10am on Thursday. He had to cover 7 wards starting from ward number 43. Mishra along with his cavalcade and supporters reached Congress district president PC Shamra’s residence at around 10.30 and started his campaign. The campaign trail started from Hanuman temple at 11 number stop with a brief pooja session.

Then the cavalcade moved in the form of procession and covered 12 number stop, Shahpura mosque area and the market around and then moved towards Ishwar Nagar, Rajiv Gandhi College at Trilanga. In between street meetings were held at all important places with special focus on slum areas.

Mishra, while addressing a meeting said that land sharks were eying the slum and if Congress does not come to power, people from this area would be displaced. A woman interrupted him and said that they have suffered due to fight between the Congress and the BJP. They are getting inflated electricity bills and threats quite often.

He was welcomed at every 100 metres by Congress workers and corporators from ward number 48, 49 and 50 accompanied him in his campaign in that area.

'Will provide all amenities'

On development plan
I do not claim to turn Bhopal into Paris or London but I promise to provide all basic amenities to the citizens of Bhopal. I want to develop the state capital into a clean and green Bhopal with proper sewage system, broad roads, working street lights, regular supply of potable water, nice parks and government schools with all facilities.

You were in the government, what did you do in last 5 years?
I have done all that I could do to make the city better. We have built a 24-km corridor for buses to provide cheap and fast transport to the public. We had constructed about 64 water tanks besides bringing Narmada water to meet water scarcity.

Disparity in development
BJP had divided the city in two parts. While one is new and developed, the other that starts from Kamla Park and Jehangirabad in not developed.

Infighting in Congress
I have blessings of all senior leaders including Arun Yadav, Bhuria ji, Suresh Pachauri, Digvijay Singh and others.
