CM seeks citizens' help to make Madhya Pradesh popular

Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has called upon citizens, especially youth, to lend their best support for development of Madhya Pradesh into a globally renowned state.

Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has called upon citizens, especially youth, to lend their best support for development of Madhya Pradesh into a globally renowned state.

Speaking at the main foundation day function of the state at Lal Parade Ground on Saturday evening, the CM said MP was already among best states in India and with citizens’ support it could be turned into a state that people from across world will come and see.

Eminent nuclear scientist Anil Kakodkar, who was born in MP, was felicitated on the occasion with ‘Madhya Pradesh Gaurav’ award.

Speaking further at the function, the CM said youth are the best resources of the state and the government will help them to grow to their full potential. "Do not ask for employment, become employment providers," Chouhan said. He added that free coaching would be provided to students.

Chouhan also highlighted the potential of MP as tourist destination and said that upcoming Simhasta fair in Ujjain in 2016 would not be merely religious occasion, but a platform to discuss on issues concerning country and world.

Later, a glittering cultural function inclusive of a mega dance-drama 'Meghdootam' and a musical show by renowned music directors Vishal-Shekhar set the celebratory tone. The state government had announced a half-day holiday for the government employees to allow them to attend the programme. A major crowd was drawn to the programme and was enthralled by the performances that continued till late in evening.

Earlier in day, launch of various welfare schemes and services, initiation of construction of an annexe to the Vallabh Bhavan (state secretariat) marked the occasion.

Vallabh Bhavan annexe
Chouhan laid the foundation stone of Vallabh Bhavan annexe costing `346 crore on Saturday morning. Speaking at the function, he said that the secretariat is ‘temple of development’ and officers and employees should work with commitment to develop MP. He administered a pledge to officers and employees to re-build Madhya the state.

Chief secretary Anthony de Sa, director general of police Surendra Sinh, principal secretary (urban administration) SN Mishra, administrative officers and employees were present on the occasion. Principal secretary GAD K Suresh proposed vote of thanks.

Anganwadi Chalo campaign
The CM urged the community to cooperate in better functioning of anganwadis. Social organisations should adopt anganwadis, urged Chouhan, while launching the ‘Anganwadi Chalo’ and ‘Bal Swachchta’ (children’s sanitation) campaigns at Bhim Nagar on Saturday. The campaigns of state department of women and child development (DWCD) aim at eradicating malnutrition.

The CM said every child must be healthy and educated for progress of society. Principal secretary of DWCD JN Kansotia, commissioner of women empowerment Kalpana Shrivastava were present on the occasion.

Health services guarantee
From Saturday, health services guarantee scheme commenced in the state, under which citizens would be assured of 18 health services as a right in government health institutions.

Government officials failing to provide services like free treatment, quality food, ambulance service, maternity services and others would be liable for punishment under the scheme.

Property-related documents go online
Now, the citizens would have the facility to get online property related documents. Development permissions for newly developed colonies and land use certificates became available online in the four major cities of Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur on November 1.

Some private organsiations like Bhopal Malayalee Association also celebrated the foundation day, with members of community participating in a sanitation drive under the Swachh Bharat campaign. The celebrations were inaugurated by president of association C Joy. Many colourful events were held all over the state to mark the foundation day.
