Congress leader and Guna member of parliament (MP), Jyotiraditya Scindia, has written a letter to chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, expressing concern over the deaths in Madhya Pradesh due to swine flu, and the delayed response of the health department in tackling the spread of the infection.
In the letter, Scindia stated that the situation would not have been so bad, had the health department got active 26 days ago.
He also expressed concern over lack of facilities and resources to treat the patients infected with H1N1.
"Ventilators, masks and the tamiflu tablets are not available at district hospitals. The district collectors and chief medical officers should be directed in this regard, and they must ensure that the tablet is available at medicine shops," he said in the letter.
"Citizens should be made informed about swine flu through hoardings, posters, media and other ways," he further wrote in this letter.
Scindia said that he would also talk to the union health minister and seek assitance for the state in dealing with the situation.
