The Congress has expressed concern over the excessive delay in promotion of officers of the State Administrative Service (SAS) in Madhya Pradesh. The party has questioned why year after year, the SAS officers are being deprived of their rightful promotions.

State Congress vice-president Manak Agarwal has said the chief minister should answer why these officers are being denied promotions.

"It is strange that while IAS officers' promotion process was completed promptly, the process for the SAS officers is so slow that it takes years and even then, there is no action," Agarwal said. The SAS officers have threatened to go on strike because of these issues.
