The Congress on Monday submitted a memorandum to director general of police Surendra Sinh, demanding action against police personnel in the Harda lathi charge incident.

The party alleged the police used lathi-charge and acted brutally against Congress workers who were sitting on a protest in Harda, 115 km south from Bhopal on Sunday night.

The party also alleged that police forcibly removed the tent, targeted party workers and misbehaved with women workers who were staging a protest led by MLA RK Dogne.

They were demanding action against former BJP minister Kamal Patel and his son over the incident that had taken place in Jhanjhri in Harda district last month.

The Congress had alleged its workers were implicated in a false case that was registered under Kamal Patel's pressure. Local Congress leaders were arrested and sent to jail.

Dogne had said if Patel and his son were not arrested, he (Dogne) would immolate self. The party has urged home minister Babulal Gaur to order inquiry.
