Congress activists rode a bullock cart to the petrol pump for buying petrol on Friday. They also carried a motorcycle on the cart during the protest, which was held to protest VAT hike on fuel in MP.

In a unique protest, the Youth Congress (YC) activists rode a bullock cart to the petrol pump for buying petrol on Friday. They also carried a motorcycle on the cart during the symbolic protest, held against the hike in Value Added Tax (VAT) on diesel and petrol in Madhya Pradesh.

The YC workers carried small bottles and vials to get petrol in them. They said the fall in prices of crude oil has led to decrease in petrol prices, however, the state government increased VAT and made citizens suffer.

"People in the state to have buy petrol at higher cost than in other states," said an YC activist at the Prabhat petrol pump.

"The petrol prices in the state are already high than in other states and while people from other states get petrol at cheaper rate, the relief has been denied to residents of MP," he added.

The YC workers were carrying placards against the state government's decision to increase the VAT on fuel and also raised slogans on the occasion.
