A police inspector allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday morning.
According to police, Radhey Shyam Bhadoria, 59, was found dead at his official residence in Chitrangi town of the district. He was posted as town inspector at Chitrangi police station.
Police sources said Bhadoria, who was about to retire in 2016, covered his head with a pillow and shot himself in the head with his service revolver. He used the pillow apparently to avoid the noise of firing, police sources added.
Superintendent of police (SP) Singrauli, D Kalyan Chakravarty said preliminary investigation suggested that it was a case of suicide.
“The reason that prompted him to take the extreme step is yet to be established. We are in touch with his family members to find out the reason for his suicide,” he told HT.
He was recently transferred to Sagar zone from Rewa zone and was supposed to resume charges in Sagar zone soon, said D Kalyan Chakravarty.
Police sources said Bhadoria was in depression because of a family dispute. He lived alone in Chitrangi town. His wife and children lived in Gwalior town.
Bhadoria had gone for the investigation of a murder case on Saturday night and returned to the police station after midnight. After finishing his work, he went to his official residence around 2am. Bhadoria generally used to keep his service revolver at the police station but he took the revolver with him on Saturday night, said police sources.
