Police on Monday remained clueless about the identity of the woman whose mutilated naked body was found near regional centre of Sports Authority of India (SAI) in Goragaon on the outskirts of the city.

On Monday, teams from Ratibad police station were sent to several localities and inquired about the woman but could not get any clue. Ratibad police station town inspector Hemant Shrivastava said, "We are clueless about the identity of the woman, as yet. We have sought information about missing persons from all the police stations of the city and nearby districts." The TI did not rule out the possibility of woman's rape before being murdered.

On Sunday noon, a villager spotted the body near SAI's hostel and informed the police. The police suspected that the woman, about 35 years old, was murdered and dumped near SAI hostel and her head was slashed in bid to hide the identity.
