Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) teams carried out surprise checks at three railway stations across the state on Thursday.
Three teams of CBI conducted the surprise checks at passenger ticketing and reservation divisions at the Habibganj, Bhopal and Itarsai railway stations of the West Central railway (WCR) in the afternoon.
The one-and-a-half hour surprise checks resulted in seizure of certain incriminating documents.
According to CBI sources, the checks were carried out following intelligence information about strong possibility of demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 banknotes being converted into new currency notes at the general ticketing and reservation divisions of railway stations.
The CBI team has seized several incriminating documents pertaining to ticketing and reservation transactions since the November 8, which will be scrutinized in the coming days, CBI sources told Hindustan Times.
The documents were seized from all sections, including the office of the chief reservation supervisor at Habibganj railway station.
Doctor couple in Indore surrender Rs 6 crores undisclosed income
An I-T department search at three premises of a doctor couple in Indore, including a big hospital in the city’s Palasia area have led to the couple surrendering Rs 6 crore undeclared income, a senior I-T department official said on Thursday.
The searches which started on Tuesday continued till Wednesday.
