The body of a middle-aged man was found at the posh Char Imli locality in Bhopal on Monday.
A local resident spotted the body in bushes behind Durga Petrol Pump in the morning and informed the police. After Habibganj police got information, senior officials rushed to the locality, inhabited mostly by IAS and IPS officers. The spot where the body was found is near health minister Narottam Mishra's residence.
The policemen who reached the spot said that apparently the body was lying there for a couple of days. "The victim couldn't be identified from his features as the face had decomposed," said a police official. "He appears to be around 45 years old. We are trying to ascertain his identity," he added.
Preliminary investigation suggests the man was murdered. Superintendent of police (SP), Bhopal south, Anshuman Singh said that preliminary medical report suggests that he died of strangulation. "A name Hari Om Singh was tattooed on one of his arms," he said. A disposable glass and a liquor bottle were also found lying near the body.
The Habibganj police have registered a case in the matter and begun investigations.
