Madhya Pradesh state BJP president Nand Kumar Singh Chauhan on Tuesday said that the challenges thrown by the demonetisation of the old ₹500 and ₹1000 banknotes should be looked upon as opportunities for ushering in transparency and checking corruption and black money.

Chauhan was speaking during a workshop on Cashless India Campaign at the party office in Bhopal, organised by the BJP Yuva Morcha and the IT cell of the BJP state unit.

The state BJP chief said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement on November 8 to check black money provided relief and increased the sense of security of the honest people in the country. He said it was only those people who have some relation with black money were “feeling suffocated” and misleading people on the issue.

“Demonetisation and the campaign for cashless economy will increase financial security on one hand and check tax evasion on the other hand. I urge the party cadre across the state to work for the success of the cashless economy campaign,” he said.

Chauhan said that the participants who were trained in the workshop should go in their respective areas and encourage and educate people for opting cashless transactions.

“Like labour pain, we are feeling the pangs of demonetisation right now. But in the coming time, it will give us great benefits”, he said.

BJP general secretary (organisation) Suhas Bhagat said the party has started to encourage people to opt cash transactions across the country and people are showing positive response.
