MP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday said Congress leader Digvijaya Singh was trying to tarnish his image by making bogus allegations against him.
He was responding to a query on accusations levelled against him by Digvijaya Singh and other top Congress leaders from MP at a press conference in Bhopal. Digvijaya Singh, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Kamal Nath, at a joint press conference on Monday, accused the chief minister of direct involvement in the MP Professional Examination Board (PEB) scam.
The chief minister said the high court and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) were monitoring the investigations into PEB recruitment and admission test scams.
He said in the past, too, Singh had levelled certain allegations which were found baseless. He claimed Digvijaya Singh has no credibility of his own now and this was the reason why he was accompanied by other top party leaders during the press conference.
Chouhan said he was working for public cause and the Congress, which has no issues to raise against him, was resorting to bogus accusations to gain public support.
Referring to Digvijaya Singh, the chief minister said 'rajas' and 'maharajas' don't like a common man to become the chief minister.
Chouhan was talking to the media after the oath taking ceremony of mayor and corporators in Jabalpur.
