The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) interrogated Pankaj Trivedi, the main accused in MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, for about two hours on Monday.

The ED officials were trying to trace money laundering in the alleged illicit financial transactions the Board officials undertook for clearing candidates in the exams by overlooking merit.

During the course of interrogation, Trivedi is learnt to have accepted minor irregularities in the Board when he was the controller of examinations. However, he did not give clear replies to many questions asked, ED sources said.

Trivedi arrived at the ED office at Palika Plaza in Indore on Monday along with the police.

The ED officials questioned him on the basis of documents accessed from Lokayukta police who raided his premises early this year.

In a parallel investigation, the Lokayukta police had also raided the residence of his elder brother Piyush Trivedi, the former vice chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi Praudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, for owning assets disproportionate to known sources of his income.

The MPPEB conducts entrance tests for various colleges and jobs in Madhya Pradesh. It has been alleged that the selection process was manipulated for the last six years.

The MPPEB scam kicked off storm in the Assembly that had to be adjourned on several occasions last month as the Congress levelled grave allegations against chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his family.
