Doctor attacked in Bhopal, assailants snatch and later abandon his car

Three unidentified persons assaulted a dental surgeon in broad daylight in Bhopal and robbed of his car under Habibganj Police station on Friday. However, they abandoned the car in Arera colony near 7 number market square and escaped as police intensified search for them after being informed by the victim.

The incident took place at one of posh localities of the city, E-7 Arera Colony. The dental surgeon, Dr Akhilesh Jain, runs a clinic at Jawhar Chowk under TT Nagar Police station. He also examine patients at home in E-7 Arera Colony.

The police said Dr Jain, was leaving for MP Nagar to drop his daughter at a coaching centre and from there he was supposed to go to his clinic in Jawhar Chowk under TT Nagar police station.

When Dr Jain was about to start his car, three persons attacked him with knife and snatched car's key. The assailants also snatched a mobile phone of Jain and escaped with car and mobile phone.

Dr Jain, who sustained several wounds on his both hands in a bid to save himself, informed the MP Nagar police. Following the information, the police intensified search and cordoned off the area.

The police later recovered Jain's car, which was abandoned near 7 number market square.

Dr jain was rushed to private hospital where he was undergoing treatment. However, his condition is reported to be stable.

Town inspector of Habibganj, Sudhir Arjaria said that police across the city had been alerted and an intensive search was being carried out across the city. The roads going outside the city have been cordoned off soon after the incident.

"The sketches of the accused were also being prepared. CCTV footages of all the squares of the city were being looked. We will nab the accused soon," he told HT.

He further said the car had been recovered while the mobile phone was still missing.
