In the wake of sterilisation deaths in Chhattisgarh, the Congress on Monday alleged that drugs made by blacklisted companies are being sold in Madhya Pradesh too.
If this (illegal selling) is not checked, there are possibilities of illness and deaths in the state, said Congress' chief spokesperson KK Mishra, claiming that 147 sub-standard medicines were found in the state markets recently.
Mishra said the nexus between drug mafia, sections of ministers and bureaucrats was responsible for the deaths during sterilisation operations in Chhattisgarh.
"Medicines manufactured by pharmaceutical companies that have been blacklisted in Gujarat and Maharashtra are being prescribed to patients in the state.
Ciropin and Atropine Sulphate that are banned in Chhattisgarh are freely available in MP," the Congress leader said, demanding that the health department should clarify the reason behind it.
"Corruption to the tune of crores is responsible for this situation. It is high time that the drug mafia is reined in," Mishra added.
