Madhya Pradesh Congress President Suresh Pachouri on Saturday demanded that State Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan should hand over the dumper scam probe allegedly involving him to a CBI probe on moral grounds.
"The dumper case probe should be handed over to CBI for impartial inquiry as the Lokayukta (Special Establishment of Police) has not completed it in three years. Besides, the Lokayukta comes under the state government," Pachouri told reporters in Bhopal.
He said the Congress had petitioned the Lokayukta demanding that inquiry into the dumper scam should be completed soon.
"Now we are going to submit the memorandum to the Governor requesting him to seek Lokayukta's report in this regard," he said.
On the din created by the main Opposition Congress in the winter session of state Assembly over corruption issues allegedly involving Chouhan and some of his cabinet colleagues, he said that over 60 members of his party have given a notice for a debate on issue, but the Speaker did not accept their demand. As a result of this, the Congress MLAs had to troop into the well, he said.
About BJP's 'Gaurav Diwas' being organised on November 29 to celebrate Chouhan's five years as Chief Minister, he said crores of rupees were being spent on it, adding government machinery was being misused for it.
