Police arrested two youths, both aged 19, for stealing a pet dog of former TT Nagar town inspector (TI) Dinesh Chauhan on Saturday at Kamla Nagar locality in Bhopal.

Police say the domestic help at Chauhan’s house had taken out the dog, a pug, for a walk on October 24 evening when the two bike-borne accused Sanju Malviya and Abhijeet Rajpoot of Kotara locality stopped them. They started asking questions about the dog to the domestic help and made the dog sit on the bike after which they sped off. The help immediately informed Chauhan after which he lodged a complaint against the youth at Kamala Nagar police station, police added.

Chauhan announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for information of the dog. “The accused told police that they kept the dog in their house and were planning to sell it to earn quick money. The court sent them to jail on Sunday,” said investigating officer Anil Dubey.
