Deputy election commissioners of India, Vinod Zutshi and Sudhir Tripathi reviewed preparations of Vidhan Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh through video-conferencing from New Delhi on Tuesday.
Madhya Pradesh’s chief electoral officer (CEO) Jaideep Govind informed the Election Commission of the preparations made so far.
Deputy election commissioner Vinod Zutshi said that all districts should decide on deployment of government staff and police force for elections now.
District election officer should decide on deployment plan in consultation with SP. Concrete police deployment should be made at senstive polling booths.
Directives given by the commission for police deployment during years 2008 and 2009 should be followed.
The deputy election commissioner said that districts should also complete work of vulnerable mapping also at the earliest.
Meetings should be held with political parties as soon as elections are announced. He suggested to adopt formulae of Gujarat and Karnataka for ballot papers.
The deputy election commissioner directed to chalk out an action plan to ensure peaceful elections in Naxal-affected district.
