An engineering student committed suicide at his rented accommodation in Piplani here on late Wednesday night. The deceased, Shubham Kale, 23, was found hanging by the ceiling fan.

Police said Shubham, who hailed from Burhanpur, was studying in a private engineering college here. He lived on rent in a house in Vivekananda Colony here. The house owner first spotted him hanging.

When the door of his room remained shut quite late in the morning, the landlord got suspicious. There was no response to the knocks. Then he peeped through the window and saw the youth hanging. Subsequently, the police were called to the spot.

The deceased’s kin were also informed about the incident. Shubham was studying in third year of the engineering course. He has left a handwritten suicide note. He, however, didn’t mention any reason which prompted him to resort to the extreme step.

He wrote that no one should be held responsible for his death. The police have sent the body for post-mortem. A case has been registered and investigation is on to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his suicide.
