In a tragic incident, two youngsters were killed when their motorcycle hit a road divider at Ayodhya bypass in Piplani on late Saturday night. The victims had gone out for dinner when the mishap occurred.

The deceased were identified as Rahul Prasad, 18, a resident of Nizamuddin Colony and Aman Kumar, 17, the police said. Rahul hailed from Patna (Bihar) and was living in a rented accomodation here.

Rahul was studying in first year in a private engineering college in Bhopal. His friend Aman also hailed from Bihar and studied in Delhi. He was also an engineering student in Delhi, said police sources.

Police officials said that the bike was driven at a fast speed and Rahul, who was riding the vehicle, apparently lost control. It hit the footpath. The accident took place at around 2am. Both received critical injuries.

An ambulance was called and the victims were rushed to the hospital. However, both the youngsters were declared brought dead. The bodies were sent for postmortem examination.

Investigators said that Rahul and Aman were close friends. While going back from Delhi to Patna, Aman had come to Bhopal to meet his friend. It was his plan to stay here for a while and then go to Patna. Unfortunately, the plan to go out for dinner on Saturday night turned fatal.

The deceased's kin were informed about the incident. They were expected to arrive from Bihar by Sunday evening. Aman's father is a teacher in Bihar. Rahul's father is also a government employee. The Piplani police have registered a case and have begun investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the mishap.
