Ex-finance minister Raghavji facing sodomy charges from his domestic help was released from Central Jail, Bhopal on Wednesday after spending 36 days there.
Raghavji had been lodged in the jail since July 9. He was granted bail by the high court on Monday.
The former minister was released after the bail order reached the Central jail on Wednesday. He was welcomed by scores of his supporters outside the jail who garlanded him, while some touched his feet.
Raghavji’s daughter Jyoti Shah was also present.
Talking to media persons, Raghvji said it was a conspiracy against him and he would speak at the party forum. On his expulsion from BJP, he said he would see the letter of expulsion and then take a decision.
“I am yet to see the letter but dismissal from the party is wrong”, he said.
The ex-finance minister said that if the party directed him, he was willing to contest the elections. When asked if he would fight as an independent candidate, he said he would first talk to party leaders and take a decision.
Raghavji’s supporters who were present outside jail, hinted that a major rally would be organised in his hometown Vidisha. It would also be a political show of strength.
Raghvji was booked for luring his 29-year-old domestic help by promising him a government job, and sexually exploiting him.
The victim submitted a CD to corroborate his allegations against the ex-minister. Soon after the FIR was lodged, Raghvji was asked to resign from the cabinet. He was also expelled from the party.
Apart from Raghavji, two other persons among his staff, Sher Singh and Suresh, were also accused of sexually exploiting the complainant. The trial is on in the case.
