Exhaustive 'bandobast' for MPCA elections

Section 144 CrPC have been imposed in the entire Race Course Road and its adjoining area in view of the MPCA elections at the Holkar stadium on Sunday. The orders were issued by the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) on Saturday.

Section 144 CrPC have been imposed in the entire Race Course Road and its adjoining area in view of the MPCA elections at the Holkar stadium on Sunday. The orders were issued by the Holkar stadium (ADM) on Saturday.

Apart from this, a three-tier security ring will be in place around the Holkar Stadium. More than 500 policemen along with dog squads will be on duty to ensure peace. Sniffer dogs, Close Circuit Television Cameras, high-tech access control equipment and human surveillance will be in place to secure the area.

Police officials said that the excessive security is to ensure that no unauthorised person enters the area during the election process. The police move comes in the wake of the 2010 elections when large number of Congressmen had gathered around the stadium and some had even entered the stadium.

On Saturday afternoon, the entire area around the stadium was teeming with policemen as barricades were set up at several points on Race Course road and in front of the to restrict entry of vehicles. A search operation was also carried inside the Holkar Stadium with sniffer dogs.


THREE TIER ARRANGEMENTS: Indore police have made a three tier security ring around the Holkar Stadium. Responsibility of each tier has been handed over to gazetted officers to ensure proper security check. Police put pickets at Janjeerwala Square and Lantern Square. Only authorised persons will be allowed to cross the first barricade put at Janjeerwala Square and Lantern Square.

In the second tier, additional police jawans have been deployed. CCTV cameras have been put at each barricade. Apart from this force under a gazette officer will be deployed at different gates of the stadium.


TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS: According to police, no vehicular traffic will be allowed on the Race Course road from 8 am-10 pm on Sunday. Only those who have passes issued by the MPCA will be allowed to enter the Race Course Road. The association has already provided entry passes to the association members. Members, who were coming from Janjeerwala square can park their vehicles at Swami Vivekanand School. Similarly, those who will come from Lantern Square can park their vehicles at the SGSITS.

All the media persons approaching towards the stadium will proceed via Abhay Prashal gate No 2. For media persons parking arrangements have been made at the SGSITS.

In case of heavy rush, traffic from Lantern Square will divert towards the Malwa Mill square. Vehicular movement on connecting road between MG Road and Race Course (in-front of Mayor house) will remain closed.
