Failing to get money, gambler kills father in Madhya Pradesh

A person who was under heavy debt because of his gambling habit shot his father after the latter refused help him repay his debt at Rachhda village in Datia district adjoining Bhind.

According to Datia superintendent of police Sanjay Kumar, Shankar Kushwaha had lost Rs 48,000 in gambling and was under debt. Persons, who had lent him money, were mounting pressure on him to repay the money. He asked his relatives for money but when they refused, he pleaded with his father to give him Rs 50,000. But, he, too, refused to help him.

A desperate Shankar thought if he killed his father, land owned by him would be transferred in his name and he would be able to repay the amount by selling off the land.

On Sunday night, he went into his field, where his father was sleeping and shot him. Shankar has been arrested and further investigation was being carried out.
