In continuance of factional feud in Christian community, a member of the community, along with his family members, sat on a dharna in front of Archbishop’s house on Saturday.
George Anthony, who sat on indefinite dharna, said that he used to run a canteen at St Francis School at Jehangirabad from 1999.
“I raised voice for providing scholarships to Christian students as promised by church on a number of occasions. I have asked to provide free education to children from Christian community because our church is getting huge aid from foreign countries for our development. If it is not delivered to us, it means the money is being used somewhere else,” said George.
His contract for canteen was cancelled as he raised these issues, he alleged. He alleged that he is being threatened by some goons.
George is staging a sit- in at Bishop House with his wife Veronica and children Waren, Varina and Vasel, all studying at St Francis School.
Denying all allegations, Archbishop Dr Leo Cornelio, said this is only a publicity stunt.
“We have nothing to do with the school. That school does not belong to our archdiocese.
He is taught by others. He is part of a larger conspiracy. This is not an end, more allegations are expected to come but the one who is behind this is losing credibility,” said Dr Leo Cornelio.
Preempting efforts started as the news of sit-in reached the church. Superintendent of police, north, Arvind Saxena said that Vasundhara Sharma, public relation officer of St Joseph’s Convent School, informed police that some Hindu fringe elements may create ruckus at Bishop House.
Appropriate arrangements were made at Bishop House, said Saxena. George is still protesting outside the Bishop House with his family.
