For PG, state ups quota for serving MBBS candidates

The Madhya Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday decided to reserve 50% postgraduate seats of the state quota in government autonomous and private medical colleges for serving MBBS candidates. Earlier, the reservation stood at 25%.

The Madhya Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday decided to reserve 50% postgraduate seats of the state quota in government autonomous and private medical colleges for serving MBBS candidates. Earlier, the reservation stood at 25%.

The cabinet also decided to give admission on the reserved seats to postgraduate courses through counselling to serving candidates who are selected through the All-India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination, an official release said.

In another decision, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan decided to allot 9.938 hectares of government land to the NTPC’s Gadarwara super thermal power project for various purposes.

As per the release, the state government has allotted 2.933 hectares of government land for the project at village Hirapur in Tendukhera tehsil of Narsinghpur district to lay an underground water pipeline and construct a pump-house.

Similarly, 2.706 hectares of land has been allotted to lay a rail line for coal transportation from the project site village Mehrakhera in Gadarwara tahasil to villages Baanjh, Ghat Pipariya, Tekapar and Bambori and construction of new road from power plant to village Sudaras, Umaria. Government land measuring 1.894 hectares has been allotted for laying a rail line to transport coal from village Chorbarhata in Gadarwara tahesil of Narsinghpur.

A total of 2.405 hectares of government land has been allotted at village Bhatera in Gadarwara tahesil to lay an underground pipeline and supply of water from project site Mehrakhera in Gadarwara tehsil.

As per the release, 50% power to be generated by this project of the Union power ministry will be given to Madhya Pradesh. Under the project, 2 units of 800 MW would be constructed. The first phase will be completed by the end of year 2017.

The cabinet decided to create posts following establishment of 10 new boys/girls pre-maric hostels. The decision was to continue pre-matric level education of tribal students in the state.

The cabinet endorsed chief minister’s decision to honour 303 officers/employees on the occasion of Independence Day August 15.
