Two days after the alleged suicide of Samajwadi party leader and former Member of Parliament (MP), Sukhlal Kushwaha, his death continues to be a mystery. Neither has he left any suicide note nor have police been able to find any clue as to what prompted him to take his life.
Kushwaha, 54, who is better known for defeating Congress strongman late Arjun Singh from Satna Lok Sabha constituency in year 1996 as BSP candidate, won the election in his very first election. After that his political career had been in flux and he was a member of Samajwadi party when he died.
On August 14 night, he allegedly shot himself from his service revolver at his residence in Satna town. He was rushed to Birla Hospital in Satna where he died during treatment.
Superintendent of police (SP), Satna, Sanjay Kumar said the preliminary investigation suggested that it was a case of suicide. “We didn't find any reason so far that prompted him to end his life. The family members are also unable to say anything about his suicide attempt,” Kumar told HT over phone.
Meanwhile on Sunday, the last rites of Kushwaha were performed with honor at his native village Bajwahi under Amarpatan police station of district.
