The festival of colour, 'rangpanchami', turned into a tragedy for a Jain family of Sudama Nagar in Indore after two of their family members and two relatives were killed in a road accident.
The mishap occurred at Jalalpura Phata under the Maksi police station limit near Shajapur on Tuesday around 10 am after an Indica (MP09/CM0842) car they were travelling rammed a pole, the police have said.
Maksi police station sub-inspector, Rameshwar Patel, said the deceased were identified as Virendra Kumar Jain (55), Sanjay Jain (38), Jammu Kumar Jain (45) and Dinesh Kumar Jain (50).
While Virendra and Sanjay hail from Sudama Nagar, Jammu and Dinesh were residents of 18 Khanjuri Bazar and Janata Colony respectively.
Patel added that preliminary investigation had revealed that all the deceased were heading towards the Maksi town to attend a religious discourse on the occasion of Rangpanchami.
The driver of the ill-fated car, Santosh Kumar Jain, was referred to Indore’s Bombay Hospital.
According to some eyewitnesses, the car was in high speed when the driver lost control over the steering wheel and in an attempt to not hit a motorcyclist rammed into a pole.
