In a major setback to the Samajwadi Party (SP) ahead of Madhya Pradesh assembly polls, four out of eight party MLAs resigned from the party on Saturday without giving any categorical reasons behind the move.

"The four MLAs-Arjun Palia, K K Singh, Vanshmani Prasad and Vikram Singh alias Nati Raja-submitted their resignations today," the party state unit chief Narayan Prasad Tripathy told PTI on Saturday.

"Two MLAs-Arjun Palia and K K Singh-visited the party office and submitted the resignation of the four MLAs," he added.

Tripathy said that the four had already announced leaving the party some time ago but formally submitted their resignations today.
