Four-year-old girl kidnapped in Bhopal, found abandoned

A four-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped by unidentified people from Chuna Bhatti area here on Wednesday, the police said. The girl was later found abandoned near Kaliasot dam. The child was reunited with the family members.

The victim, identified as Vanshika Mehra, is a resident of Buddha Vihar. When s he was returning home from school with her elder sister, the abductors approached them and forcibly took thechild away in a van. The local residents who saw the incident, informed the police.

City superintendent of police Jayant Singh Rathore said that police took immediate action and as a result the kidnappers left the girl near Kaliasot dam. "As soon as we got information, we cordoned off the area and started checking every van passing through the area," he said.

Anshika was spotted by some people who took her to her school in Kolar. Subsequently, the school administration informed the police.

Rathore said a case had been registered against unidentified abductors and the investigation was on to arrest them. He said the CCTV footage from different parts of the city were being gathered to establish the identity of abductors.

Anshika's father Sobhram Mehra works with a private company. He said, "I have no any enmity with anyone. I don't know who were they and why they had kidnapped my daughter."
