Ganesha idols make their final journey in Bhopal

Idols of Lord Ganesha were immersed in Bhopal on Sunday after a ten-day Ganesha Utsav. Crowds were seen on the streets across the city since morning.

Idols of Lord Ganesha were immersed in Bhopal on Sunday after a ten-day Ganesha Utsav. Crowds were seen on the streets across the city since morning as people carrying idols journeyed to various immersion spots in the final leg of the festival.

Ganesha idols installed in public pandals at various places and those installed in households were brought to the designated points of Upper Lake, Shahpura Lake and Lower Lake for immersion amidst music and chants of ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’.

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) had arranged water tanks by the roadside to cater to throngs looking for water bodies to immerse the idols and also to reduce pollution of lake water.

Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan participated in the immersion of Ganesha idol installed at his residence on Sunday evening. The CM was accompanied by his wife and other ministers and dignitaries of the city.

A procession was also taken out from his house at Prempura Ghat to Prempura Ghat.

Meanwhile, traffic at various places of the city remained affected through day as vehicles carrying huge idols of Lord Ganesha clogged streets. Police force was deployed at various places to maintain traffic and avoid ruckus during the celebrations.
