An advocate was shot at in broad daylight near the Bhopal district court on Wednesday.
Three bike borne assailants opened fire in front of the Kisan Bhawan Krishi Board near the court, resulting in injuries to Ishaq Khan, the advocate.
According to Govind Yadav, an eyewitness, six attackers on two different bikes were responsible for the incident. He said that the two bikes were speeding and the assailants fled after Khan was wounded, the bullets hitting his left elbow.
Police sources said that the people on the two bikes were fighting amongst themselves and a bullet mistakenly hit the advocate.
The sources further said that the notorious Rais Radio and his son Yaseen Magistrate could have been involved in the incident.
A good Samaritan helped Khan, taking him to JP Hospital. He was later rushed to Hamidia Hospital, where his condition is said to be stable. The police are investigating the matter.
“The security should be tightened near the court. We want the government to remove the encroachment near the court as it attracts a large crowd to the court premises,” bar association president CP Vishwakarma said.
