The scam in procurement of grains is much bigger in magnitude than the Professional Examination Board (PEB) scam, said the Congress on Wednesday.
The party alleged that the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh has been involved in jugglery of statistics to win the Krishi Karman award for the last two years. State Congress' spokesman Ravi Saxena said Union minister Ramvilas Paswan's statement that middlemen bought wheat in neighbouring states like UP where the price was less and sold it at higher price in MP, has corroborated Congress' stand.
"The middlemen in UP, Bihar buy grains at cheaper prices in these states and then not only sell them at higher price in MP but also obtain bonus from MP government. This is shown wrongly as bumper production of grains in MP though. The fact is that farmers in the state face shortage of power, irrigation and fertilisers but MP government is claiming wrongly that there is a huge growth in grain production," Saxena further said.
The party also said the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government should release a White Paper on the issue.
