Depressed over his daughter's elopement with one of his nephews, a head constable committed suicide by shooting himself at Berasia police station on Wednesday.
The constable, Kishore Kumar, (52) was in charge of Malkhana (store room) of Berasia PS for the past three years. He was a resident of Guna district.
According to sources, Kumar came to the police station around 11.30am and took out a revolver from Malkhana and then shot himself.
Hearing the shots, others present there rushed to the site and found Kumar lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead.
SDOP Shanu Aftab Ali said a note was recovered from the deceased’s pocket, where he mentioned that family problems led him to take the extreme step.
"He was in depression after his daughter got married against his wish. One of his sons is also mentally disturbed and that was a reason for his depression," Ali added.
Kumar had two sons, Vikas and Akash, and a daughter. Sources said Kumar had stopped interacting with his colleagues after his daughter eloped with his sister-in-law's son about a month ago.
