Dreams often come true. And this 23-year-old, who is one of the ten contestants at the reality show India's Raw Star, says he has fulfilled his mother's wish.
Mohit Gaur is not only performing on stage but has also got an opportunity to sing alongside Honey Singh, one of India's well-known artistes.
"When I got a call from Honey Singh my first reaction was that one of my friends would be joking with me. It was only when he said 'Yo Yo Honey Singh bol raha hu' in his signature style that I could believe him," described Gaur, while speaking to HT City during his visit to the city.
The young singer from Jaipur was all excited narrating this whole incident about how he got selected for this show. He went on saying that Honey Singh is a very different person from what people consider because of his songs.
"He has truly been an amazing mentor, more of an elder brother. He converses with you a lot before your performance and makes sure you aren't nervous on stage. I really like him for that," Mohit added.
A huge Priyanka Chopra Fan, Mohit explained how there were changes made in her performance when Chopra was visiting on the sets of the show. "I had to make an exit behind the stage but when I was told to stand and not leave I was little perplexed".
"And trust me I got a shock of my life when I saw her standing beside me. I just cannot define that moment," said Mohit with a grin on his face. “I have a crush on Priyanka Chopra. I never thought I would get a chance to meet her even. But seeing her on stage was different. Apart from a great actor she is also a good singer and I would love to sing with her," he added. Mohit plays with a band Zidd in Jaipur and also adores metal music a lot.
The other contestant who was visiting with him, Rituraj Mohanty has previously been a part of the show Satyamev Jayate and a Bollywood film as a vocalist. "The show is such a format that you not only get a chance to sing but also perform on stage which any upcoming singer would yearn for," he said.
I had auditioned live and Honey (Singh) paaji told me that he was impressed with my performance and getting praises from him was actually a big thing. "He is an experienced artiste and whatever he says I follow it religiously," Rituraj added.
Calling sufi as his favourite genre, Rituraj admires Rahat Fateh Ali Khan a lot.
"I feel I can sing songs of that genre in a better manner and sufi singing is one of the reasons I took up singing," he said. He has presently recorded with a number of composers including Ram Sampath and wants to continue his journey in Bollywood as a playback artiste.
