The Bhopal gangrape case took a new turn when the victim, after being brought to Bhopal from Kanpur, alleged that she was used as a "tool" to settle "personal scores" with some persons by the complainant Pramod Singh, a senior police officer said on Thursday.
"The case has taken a new turn and it appears more like a conspiracy to fix some persons by making the woman a tool. The complainant is likely to become an accused in the case," Inspector General (IG) Bhopal range, Shailendra Shrivastava told PTI.
The victim claimed that she is a bar girl and Singh had brought her to Bhopal on the pretext of showing the city. She is not related to Singh in anyway and he paid her Rs 20,000 for coming with him, the IG said.
According to the police, victim told them that she was gangraped by four persons in a black car on January 17 in Gandhi Nagar area of the city. She has gone to Asaram Bapu's ashram situated in the area along with Singh for getting a girl admitted there.
Police said that she had filed the complaint after being threatened by Singh to do so.
"While filing the report, the couple presented themselves as husband and wife, but in reality they are not married and now even the victim is saying so," they said.
