IAS officer of MP cadre Kalpana Srivastava received CAPAM International Innovations Award- 2016 for Lado Abhiyan.
Technical education principal secretary Srivastava received the award with Women and Child Development commissioner Jayshree Kiyawat at Putrajaya, Malaysia.
Srivastava launched the Lado Abhiyan in 2003 when she was posted as commissioner of Women and Child Development.
The campaign received sixth rank among world’s top 10 countries with high child marriage rates.
Addressing media in the award ceremony, Srivastava said the Loda is aimed at improving communication channels, skills training and media advocacy besides capacity building among stake holders, including wedding service providers.
She informed that more than 3000 children have been named as brand ambassadors of the campaign. Most of them either escaped or were saved from child marriages.
